Luis Bustos

Luis R. Bustos peacefully passed away at the age of 96, in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Luis was born on October 11, 1926, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Esteban Bustos and Leonor Ruelas Bustos. He spent most of his life in Monahans, Texas, with his wife Elisa Bustos and son Louis Bustos Jr., with love until Elisa's passing. Later in life, he united in marriage to Leonarda Molinar. Together, they supported each other lovingly in their later years.

Luis lived a vibrant life, serving in the Army for 22 years and retiring as Staff Sergeant (SSG). He courageously served our nation in three significant wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Luis was a committed patriot and a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. He spent much of his time reading and collecting news articles, purchasing “STUFF” from The Bradford Exchange and Ed McMahon/Publishers Clearing House., and contributing to his preferred political representatives. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Luis Bustos is preceded in death by his parents, Esteban and Leonor Bustos; son, Louis Bustos Jr.; brother, Matilde Bustos; and sister, Santos Milan.

He is survived by his brother, Jesus Bustos, and his wife, Ermila, currently residing in Ft. Stockton. Additionally, his sisters, Beatrice Nix and her husband Ramiro, reside in Laredo, TX, while Marylou Gloclan and her husband Jim live in Jacksonville, FL.

Surviving stepchildren of the deceased include Nora Lopez and her husband David from Grand Prairie, as well as Norma Garcia and Betty Torres, both from Odessa, TX, Larry Molinar and his wife Mary of Odessa, TX, Natividad "Sonny" Rodriguez and his wife Ruby of Odessa, TX.

Grandchildren, Lorenzo Keegan Bustos, Lazaro Kaleb Bustos; two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Luis Bustos, Ray Milan, Lorenzo Bustos, Lazaro Bustos, Stephen Nix and Alan Armesto Jr.

Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Chavez officiating. A burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

We express our gratitude to Alev Care Hospice "Angela" and the private caretakers, namely Evangelina, Patience, Chikoidi, Elizabeth, and Isatou, for their exceptional love and care towards Luis. They have become lifelong family friends. We also extend our appreciation to Dr. Marveta Scott for providing exceptional care to Luis for the past 2 1/2 years, as well as to the Heartis Arlington Senior Assisted Living facility.

We want to thank everyone who has provided unwavering support during this time.
