Louise Shiffer, 97, of Odessa, TX passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2024, in Waxahachie, TX.
Alma Louise Bean was born in 1926, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. As a child, she grew up in Oklahoma where she lived on the farm with her parents Nicholas and Olna and her three siblings Lois, Lloyd (lovingly called Sonny), and Nicky. Louise attended college at Oklahoma A&M where she earned her bachelor’s degree in art and met her future husband, Jim.
Louise married James Scott Shiffer on May 23, 1948. She and Jim then moved to Odessa, Texas. It was in Odessa that they raised two children, Betty and James (Jimmy). Louise taught second grade in ECISD for 26 years. She loved painting art canvases and creating ceramics. Louise was also very active in church work and bible studies. She spent many years at First Baptist Church teaching Sunday School, including her beloved Naomi Class. She loved her family and especially loved watching her grandchildren and “great grands” grow up.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Patty Shiffer; brother, Lloyd Bean; and brother-in-law, Leon Elms.
She is survived by daughter, Betty (Ron) Hubbard; and son, James N. Shiffer, all of Waxahachie, TX; sister, Lois Elms; and brother, Nicky (Janet) Bean all of Odessa, TX; grandchildren, Scott (Lindsy) Shiffer, Shelley (Eric) Ward, Lacy (Ryan) Gunning, and Sheri (Mitchell) Bundick; and 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Payge, Hunter, Taylor, Maren, Addelyn, Hannah, Daegan, Christopher, Emma, Declan, Logan, and Deacon
She will be loved and missed, but she will be cherished in our hearts and memories forever.
Pallbearers will be Scott Shiffer, Eric Ward, Ryan Gunning, Mitchell Bundick, Tyler Hallmark, and Hunter McKee.
Memorials may be given to Samaritan's Purse.
