Lisa Knight

Lisa Denise Knight of Odessa passed away on February 11, 2008 in Beaumont, TX. She was born on January 19, 1964 in Odessa TX to Sandra Shepherd and Earnest Cook.

Survivors include one son, Stephen Keith Knight, two daughters, Britany Melissa Knight, and Desiree Denise Roberts and husband Justin Paul Roberts, and one grandson. Her parents; Sandra Shepherd and Earnest and Sue Cook; two brothers, Landon Cook and wife Sheri Cook and Lee Cook and wife Danielle Cook; one sister, LaFree Harvey. She is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darren Knight, her paternal and maternal grandparents, and her brother-in-law, Rick Harvey.

Lisa was born in Odessa, Texas on June 19, 1964 at Medical Center Hospital. She moved to and grew up in Nederland, Texas. During those years, Lisa lived with her family. Her mom and dad, sister and two brothers. She attended Hillcrest Elementary and Nederland Church of Christ. She enjoyed lots of neighborhood friends-for blocks-in ganes of hiding go seek, chase, simon says, riding bikes, and playing with snapping turtles, if we couldn't go swimming at the pool in port Neches, she swam in the ditches and played in the rain.

Lisa and LaFree often snuggled in bed with mamma after church on Sunday and watched Weird Weird Theater and Boo Theater. Her mom has special memories of pushing Lisa and LaFree in a little red wagon at Nannie and Papa's house in Odessa on West 14th street.

Many years later on November 26th, 1983 Lisa met and married her husband, Darren Knight, they had three beautiful children. After Darren's death in 2000 Lisa lived in Beaumont, Texas. Lisa had many trials and difficult times in recent years. We all loved her and tried to support her as best we could. Her daddy has been her primary care taker for the past several years. He took up for her, stood by her, and supported her in a very fair and compassionate manner until the day she died. We rejoice that she is finally at peace, but will miss her and hold her in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on February 15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday February 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Porterfield officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
