Karen Bownds Thornhill, of Odessa Tx, passed away on September 24th 2026 in Odessa.

Memorial services will be held on October 3 at 2 P.M. with Wally Schiwart of New Dawn Fellowship, officiating.

Karen Bownds Thornhill was born in Odessa, Texas to Ira and Bessie Bownds. She graduated from Permian high school and later received her Bachelors from UTPB. She was married to Robert Thornhill on the 22nd of January 1977 in Odessa. She was a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing for over 20 years. She was very involved with her church family, her friends, sewing and general learning.

She is preceded in death by her son - Robert, parents - Ira and Bessie, sister - Barbara Woodard, brother in law - Curt Brumm.

She is survived by her husband- Robert Thornhill, son - Preston Thornhill, sister - Gwen Brumm, brother - Jimmy Bownds, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews
