Justin Jorgensen

January 21, 1985 — October 17, 2021

Odessa

On Sunday, October 17, 2021, Richard Justin Jorgensen, kind and loving father, husband, son, and brother passed away at the age of 36.

Justin (JJ), was born on January 21, 1985, to Molly Beard Taylor and Ricky Jorgensen. He was a 2003 graduate of Odessa High School and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Angelo State University in 2008. He married his high school sweetheart, Abby Graves Jorgensen on February 25, 2012. Together they had two precious daughters, Maggie, and Evie.

To those who knew him well, Justin was a gentle giant. He was kind and loving to all he met. Quiet by nature, Justin loved the outdoors and the serenity found there. An avid hunter and natural athlete, Justin excelled in all sports even from a young age. He enjoyed playing football and baseball throughout school. While he was athletically competitive, it was his natural ability to lead and encourage others that truly defined his athletic journey.

Justin took immense pride in cleanliness and order, liking everything to be neat and tidy in its proper place. He had fun joking with others, especially with the children and friends he held dear.  Ultimately, Justin’s huge heart defined him. At the age of eight, Justin became a follower of Jesus and felt called to love and accept others just as they were. He was known for his compassionate nature, his kindness toward others, and his love of family - above all, his two darling daughters whom he adored.

Justin is survived by his wife and best friend, Abby; his two daughters, Maggie and Evie; his mother and stepfather, Molly and Dennis Taylor; his father and stepmother, Bernadette and Ricky Jorgensen; his sister Molly Ann Sylestine, and her husband, Jeremy; his sister Emily Williamson, and her husband, Taylor; his stepbrother Colby Taylor; his stepsister Kristen Powell; his nieces, Quinn, Noelle and Molly June; his grandmother Judy Barker; and his grandparents Sherrie and Carl Beard. He is also survived by Abby’s parents, Katy, and Martin Graves; her brother, True Graves; her grandmother, Kathy Young; and many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

We rejoice in knowing that Justin is now reunited with his beloved grandmother, Margaret Beard.
