Judy Louise Jackson Thompson, 74, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on August 5, 2026, her 74th birthday, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Louis and Wanda Jackson, Judy lived a life marked by love, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Judy spent her childhood and teen years moving with her family from Oklahoma to Texas and New Mexico. She lived in Odessa, Texas, then Farmington, New Mexico, and later in Hobbs, New Mexico, where she graduated from Hobbs High School in 1970. Those early years helped shape her strong spirit, resilience, and deep appreciation for family.

Judy was the proud mother of one son, Coby Louis Pool. She poured her heart into raising Coby, and their bond remained one of the greatest joys of her life.

In 1974, Judy first met the love of her life, Jack Thompson. Though neither of them knew it at the time, God was weaving their lives together for a purpose. Their friendship grew into a deep and abiding love, and on June 24, 1997, they were married. Judy welcomed Jack’s children, Rocky and Tammye, into her heart as her own, and together they built a blended family grounded in love, loyalty, and faith.

After retirement, Judy and Jack fulfilled their dream of spending much of their time at Oak Creek Lake. They split their days between their home in Odessa and their place at the lake, where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and the simple beauty of lake life. Oak Creek became more than just a getaway. It was a sanctuary where family and friends gathered, and where countless memories were made around the water.

Judy is survived by her son, Coby Pool of Odessa, Texas; stepson, Rocky Thompson of St. Petersburg, Florida; and stepdaughter, Tammye Hayes of Lynchburg, Tennessee. She is also survived by her grandsons, Mason Hayes and Katon Hayes; her sisters, Ann Hoggatt and Kathy (Bob) Walters; her brother, Louis Jackson Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thompson; her parents, Louis and Wanda Jackson; and her sister, Vickey Turner.

Judy will be remembered for her warm smile and her unwavering love for her family. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, whether at home in Odessa or at the lake, where friends quickly became family. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she loved, the stories shared, and the memories made.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Reverend Clydel Chapman officiating.
