Jose Luis (Joe) Munoz, age 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home, with Pastor Ruben Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Funeral Gardens and Funeral Home.
Joe was born on May 5, 1955, in Pecos, Texas, to Arturo and Socorro Munoz. He attended school in both Pecos and Odessa, graduating from Ector High School where he was a proud member of the ROTC. He began his career as an operator at General Tire and later at Rexene Corporation before becoming a highly skilled independent flooring specialist. A gifted craftsman, Joe took great pride in his work and built a reputation for quality and dedication throughout his life.
He loved the thrill of riding motorcycles in his younger years and cherished traveling and creating lasting memories with his family. Joe was known for his adventurous spirit, warm charisma, and loving heart. His presence brought joy to everyone around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Socorro Munoz; his brother, Arturo Munoz Jr.; his sister-in-law, Celia Munoz; and his great-grandson, Chris Eric Garcia.
He is survived by his sons, Jose L. Munoz Jr., Anthony M. Munoz, and Eric Munoz; his daughters, Pamela Munoz and Joyce Rojas; his brothers, Danny Munoz and Rick Munoz; and many beloved grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Munoz, Rick Munoz, Arturo Munoz III, Billy Sandoval, Esteban Zubia Jr., and Isaiah Zubia.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Dang, Heart to Heart Hospice, and the dedicated nurses at MCH for their compassionate care
