John Shelton

John Walter Shelton of Odessa, Texas passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023.  John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

John was born in Lubbock, TX to Paul and Letha Shelton on February 14th, 1952.  John graduated from Permian High school in 1970.  He married Lois Menzel on November 12th, 2005, in Gardendale, Texas.  John worked for the City of Odessa for 32 years.   John was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, he adored his dogs, music, and loved attending the Kerrville folk festival. He enjoyed escaping to Ruidoso and the hill country for fishing and relaxation, when not taking time to travel he and Lois enjoyed their grandchildren and cheering them on in all their extracurricular activities.

John is preceded in death by his father, Paul Shelton; mother, Letha Shelton; sister, Claudia Moore; nephew Ben Moore; and nephew, Chad Nicodemus.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Shelton; sister, Paula and husband James Bivins; niece, Taunell Moore; brother-in-law, Aurthur Moore; nephew, Chris Bivins; sister-in-laws, Deanne McNeil, Linda Parker, Carolyn Erickson; and stepdaughter, Sarah and husband Juan De La Cruz; grandchildren, Christian, Tomas, Lilliana, and Lyla De La Cruz.

John’s celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 1303 Alpine St, Odessa, Texas 79762. Please share any of your favorite memories and photos with the family.
