Joe Chandler Erwin

Joe Chandler Erwin, 83 years old, of Odessa Texas, passed away from this life on Monday, April 15th, 2024, at his home, in Odessa, Tx.   He was born on June 30th, 1940, in Tishomingo, OK, to Joseph Richard and Dena Vasti Erwin.

Joe dedicated his love and life to his family. Family was everything to him. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his wife Linda, daughter Christy, and two dogs, Shaggy and Lil Bitty. He spent 65 years dedicating his love to his soulmate, Linda Erwin. After 30 years of working for Broncho Chevrolet, he then opened his own business, Erwin’s Automotive, while simultaneously co-owning Twin Cities Speedway. His heart was spending much of his time at his lake house in San Angelo Tx, with family friends. He also enjoyed hunting with his buddies, anything NASCAR and Harley Davidsons.  He was a two-time cancer survivor and fought hard against dementia, an ugly illness until the end. He left this world surrounded by the loves of his life, Linda and Christy.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother and father, Joe and Dena Erwin; his sister, Rosie Lofton; brother, JD Erwin; sister, Faye Mcdaniel. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Linda Erwin; daughter, Christy Erwin; brother, Eddie Erwin; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A special thank you to Lili Valenzuela, she was not only Joe’s nurse but his friend as well.  There are no words to express our gratitude for the loving care she gave Joe.

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 18^th, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home Chapel Room. Services will be held at 3:00pm, Friday April 19th, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home Chapel Room.
