Joanna Flack

January 15, 1943 — May 5, 2021

Odessa

Joanna Lee Flack, 78, of Odessa, Texas passed away on May 5, 2021 in Odessa.  Prior to moving to Odessa in October 2019, she was a long-time resident of Graham, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Keri Lynn Lucas of Creekwood United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas officiating.  Burial will be at a private family ceremony at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Joanna was born in Evansville, Indiana to John Edward and Audry Lee Weathers on January 15, 1943.  She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961.  She married Garth Wendall Flack on September 6, 1963 in Littlefield, Texas.  Through the years, Joanna and Garth resided in Amarillo, Canyon, and Plainview; eventually moving to Possum Kingdom Lake near Graham, Texas in retirement to share their enjoyment of fishing, the lake, and all that it could bring.  These activities brought Joanna and Garth great joy, as did their active participation along with their many friends in their church, Westlake Chapel.  After Garth passed away, Joanna moved to Odessa to be closer to family.  This new chapter brought not only daily interaction with ‘her girls’, but also constant activity of new extended family and friends that was a significant change from the “lake pace” she had become accustomed to for many years.  She took on this challenge and found ways to embrace and love each person brought into her life, and whether she was ‘Mom’, ‘Granny’, or ‘Joanna’ to each, she accepted and loved them without any limitations, distinctions, or divisions.   She took great joy in sharing in each accomplishment, announcement, holiday, graduation, joy, and event of everyone during this time, but most especially the birth and then every breath, word, and deed of her great-granddaughters.

Joanna is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Jonnie Wall, and her loving husband of 54 years, Garth.

Joanna is survived by one daughter Alissa Lucas and husband Paul of Odessa, Texas; one son Aaron Flack and Michelle Brock of Keller, Texas; two sisters: Jeana Burke of New Caney, Texas and Judi Lindsey of McKinney, Texas; three granddaughters; Hannah Simmons and husband Cole of Midland, Reagan Todd and husband Haydn of Midland, and Madison Sharp of Odessa; one grandson Caleb Flack of Amarillo; and three great-granddaughters: Layla Todd, Hollis Simmons, and Ivy Todd.

Memorials may be given to KWO (Kenya Widows & Orphans) Ministries.  More information is available at www.kwoministries.org.
