Jimmy Carl Welch, 87, passed away on October 25, 2025, in Dallas, TX.

Jimmy was born in Illinois to Marvin and Ann Welch on September 9, 1938. His teens were spent racing up and down the streets of Odessa, winning more than he lost. He served his country by joining the Navy and served his tour on the USS Lexington. He married Claudette, the love of his life in 1959 and they started a family consisting of 3 very challenging children and several equally challenging grandchildren. The other love of his life was his 1957 Chevrolet Belair! He loved showing it off and talking about it. His calling in life was to be a truck driver, and he did it well. His truck always looked great! Animals were very important to him. He loved his pups and his cats. Jimmy was a member of the West Texas Street Rod Association and the Lexington Veterans.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette. Sons, Michael and Mitchell Welch. Brother, Jerry Welch.

He is survived by his daughter, Margo McKinney. Granddaughters, Kayla Staggs (Tyler), Kristen Benefield, Megan Musick, Sarah Welch and Treva Gist. Brother, Johnny Welch of California. 6 nieces and nephews. 14 great-grandchildren

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Fix West Texas, a cause very near and dear to Jimmy's heart.

The family wishes to express our gratitude to Medical City Dallas and Hospice Plus in Dallas, TX for their excellent care during his last days.
