Jerry Darby, 83, of Odessa, TX, passed away on November 21, 2023, in Odessa.

The funeral will be at 3:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Clydell Chapman of Northside Baptist officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Jerry Darby was born in Knoxville, TN, to Cunningham Johnson Darby and Agnes Virginia Carter on February 28, 1940. He graduated from Muleshoe High School. He married Dorris Ann Rolland on June 6, 1959, in Texico, NM. He worked as an international welding inspector for many years. He was a man of integrity who followed through with what he said. He was the embodiment of “My word is my bond.” He was a man of humor; you knew he liked you when he started to give you a hard time. He was a masterful wood crafter. He made about 90% of our family’s furniture. He had a loving heart, giving countless wooden cars to those in need. He always wanted to see smiles on people’s faces and has passed on that legacy to his children and children’s children. He will live on in his descendants’ footsteps, carrying on the same legacy.

Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Harold J. Darby; his sister, Joann Garrett; and his daughter, Lisa Darby.

Jerry is survived by Doris Darby, Darren Darby, Brandon and Jessica Darby, Amanda Chancey, Kinley Chancey, Koby Green, Emmett Darby, and Samuel Darby.
