James Hembree

James Donald Hembree "Donnie", 74, passed away August 24, 2021, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Beaumont, TX, on December 21, 1946, the son of Maynard and Birtie Hembree.

James served with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hopewell during the Vietnam War.  He received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Hembree and Birtie Hembree; brother, Bobby Hembree; and nephew, James Dale Hembree.

He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hembree and Robby Hembree and wife Kelly of Victoria, TX; two brothers, George Hembree and wife Twyla, and Johnny Hembree and fiancé Tresia, both of Odessa; two sisters, Shirley Ashcraft and husband Jimmy of Douglasville, GA, and Bonnie Anthony and husband Mike of Odessa, TX; nieces and nephews, Michael Hembree, Angela McBride, Stacey Gill and husband Leslie, Melissa Adcox and husband Mike, Jonathan Hembree and fiancé Crystal, all of Odessa, Steve Deese, Len Deese, and wife Tracey, Jeanice Caldwell all of Douglasville, GA, Tiffany Ortego and husband Darrel, Trish Kinsman and husband Stuart of Corinth, TX, Kristina Lively and husband Jack of Midland, TX, Woody Salge and wife Saleana of Odessa, TX; as well as 5 grandkids, two great grandkids, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX, Friday, August 27, 2021, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Clark Racca officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
