Jake C. Collins Jr., 91, of Odessa passed away on September 7, 2022, in Odessa, Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, on September 24, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Anderson of Methodist Church of Crane officiating.

Jake was born in Commerce, Georgia to Jacob C. Collins Sr. and Mollie Collins on June 9, 1931. He graduated from Polly Tech High School in Ft. Worth, Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree from Hardin Simmons University, where he played football. He received his master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He married Gwen Williams on December 20, 1953, in the First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. They celebrated 68 years of marriage last year. He was a teacher/coach for 38 years for Seminole ISD and Ector County ISD. He served in the Texas National Guard from 1951 to 1959. He was involved in DeMolays, Lion Club, Easter Seal fundraising, church activities, and activities at the Parks Senior Living. He was a member of Sherwood Church of Christ.

Jake is preceded in death by his parents, Mollie, and Jake Collins Sr.; his sister, Katherine Anderson; and granddaughter, Jennifer Leanne Collins.

Jake is survived by his wife, Gwen Collins; son, Kirk Collins of Odessa; daughter, Michelle Anderson and her husband Glenn of Crane; grandchildren, Jason Collins and his wife Sarah of Massachusetts, Jarrod Collins and wife Becca of Vermont, Cody Collins of Lubbock, and Jacob Anderson of Crane; Cantrell, Isla and Roni Collins of Massachusetts, Hunter and Coleton Collins, and Gavin Howard of Vermont; nephews, Glen Anderson and wife Carol from Houston, Texas, David Anderson, Beth and Ava from Arlington, Texas; as well as close friends, Leland and Paula Caffey, Jana Gregory, Joy jones, and family. Also, Karla Collins Russo.
