Jacob ~Jake~ Milam

October 9, 1996 — January 22, 2022

Odessa

Jacob ~Jake~ Wayne Milam, age 25, of Odessa, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2022, in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2022 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

A celebration of his beautiful life will be held 1:00 PM, February 1, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Hood of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Jake was born in Odessa, Texas to Chad and Melane Milam on October 9, 1996. He attended Reagan Elementary, Bonham Junior High School, went on to graduate from Permian High School in 2015 in Odessa and then attend Odessa College. He had just begun an exciting career in sales at Mattress Firm at which he was excelling, as he did in anything he decided to do.

Inarguably, Jake was extraordinarily intelligent with a quick wit that brought joy to most anyone he conversed with. (With the exception of a few teachers along the way, we do apologize!) If you asked anyone how they would describe Jake, you would get one unanimous word: caring. “Jake was the most sweet, caring person. He worried about everyone around him and always made sure everyone had a smile on their face. Even if he didn't, he could get along with pretty much anyone and could fill a room with laughter. He was the most loyal person you’ve ever met and could tell a story about nothing. His wit was so amazing, and he was too ridiculously smart for his own good. He was just the best.”

I came across a Robin Williams’ quote Jake had saved, and I heard his voice, "I don't know how much value I have in this universe. ✨️ But I do know I made a few people happier than they would have been without me and as long as I know that I'm as rich I ever need to be." If you were loved by Jake, you were truly blessed.

Jake is preceded in death by his grandfather, Roger Dale Phillips, and grandmother, Cynthia Louise Milam.

Jake is survived by his cherished sister, Jillian Milam; doting parents, Melane and Chad Milam; adored grandfather, C. Alvin Milam; dearest grandmother, B. Kay Phillips; sweet girlfriend, Zoriah McHale, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and amazing friends who were as close as family.

Pallbearers will be Justin Phillips, Hayden Sherwood, Justin Taliaferro, Diego Fierro, Jereme Gomez, Heath Adams, Joseph Dennis, JT Wood; and honorary pallbearers, Kobi Fowler, Bronson Sanders, and Joseph O’Dell.

The family of Jacob wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the greatest family and friends anyone could imagine, with special thanks to the Farrill family, as well as St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
