Helen E. Penn, 90, of Electra, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2024 in Odessa, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. August 9, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Helen was born to Emmett and Carrie (Armstrong) Broderson on June 8, 1934. She was raised with her brother and sisters near Vernon, Texas and graduated from Electra High School. She retired from her job as a teacher’s aide for Ector County Independent School District, a job she truly loved, especially seeing the young children she worked with thrive and grow. She was involved in several organizations including Beta Sigma Phi of Odessa and the Permian Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. She was a member of Odessa First Church of the Nazarene. She will be remembered fondly as a sweet, generous lady who loved to dance, to dress up and accessorize, and in the last few years, to add a tint of pink to her blonde hair for fun. Seldom met a stranger that she didn’t become acquainted with and often friendships developed.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son Randall Penn, brother Emmett Broderson and sister Fern Caraway.
Helen is survived by her son Terry Penn and wife Cathy; grandsons Trevor Penn and Tyler Penn; and great-grandchildren Gavin Penn and Addison Penn. She is also survived by her sisters: Glenda Hooker, Jackie Youngborg and Mary Lou Hudson.
The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation, American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
