Gordon Vernon Wills, aged 81, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Shannon Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Gordon was born on December 4, 1942, in Galahad, Alberta, Canada, the beloved son of Albert Searle Wills and Fern Royer Wills.

Throughout most of his career, Gordon dedicated himself to the oil and gas industry. Starting in the oil fields of Canada, he later answered the call of the West Texas oil fields. Gordon's strong work ethic, coupled with his unwavering dedication, earned him immense respect and admiration from his industry peers. Additionally, he spent twelve years navigating the highways as the captain of an eighteen-wheeler, endearing himself to co-workers with his reliability and affable nature.

Gordon was not only a dedicated professional but a warm and engaging conversationalist, always with a twinkle in his eyes. He embraced life with passion, finding joy in the company of his cherished family. His great sense of humor, sharp wit, and remarkable memory, especially for numbers, dates, and geography, made him a delightful presence to those around him.

A lover of travel, Gordon crisscrossed the country in several RVs, creating lasting memories with his family on the open road. For over ten years, he found solace and community as a faithful member of Lakeview Bible Church.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of forty-two years, Diane May Wellington Wills, his sister Rae Tarlason, and his brother Dale Wills. He is survived by his second wife of eighteen years, Betty Wills; his daughter, Charlene May McCoy, and husband Jeff; his son, Vernon Gordon Wills, and wife Tryna; stepdaughters Julie Hutson and husband Rick, and Kristi Payne and husband Jim; grandchildren Lexy McCoy, Turner McCoy, Canada Smith and husband Zane, Montana Wills, Tyler Hutson and wife Amber, Ryan Melendez, and Jacob Melendez; three great-grandchildren; brother Richard Wills and wife Karen; and sister-in-law, Erika Wills. In addition, he leaves behind numerous other loving family members, friends, cherished co-workers, and his beloved church family.

Gordon Vernon Wills will be remembered for his enduring spirit, commitment to family, and the positive impact he had on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved him, and his memory will continue to inspire us.
