George William Mahone, Jr.

George William (Bill) Mahone, 83, of Odessa, TX, passed away on January 7th, 2024, in Odessa with family by his side.

Visitation will be Friday, January 12^th, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Odessa, TX.  Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 13^th, 2024, at Grace Christian in Odessa, TX with Ben Ford, Jonathan Horton, and Clark Racca officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Arrangements are made by Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Bill was born in Lubbock, TX, to George W. Mahone Sr. and Lottie Williams Mahone on May 11, 1940. He married Charlene (Talkmitt) Mahone on July 17, 1965, in Lubbock, TX. Together, they welcomed their only child, Jana (Mahone) Law, on March 14, 1967. He was a mechanic by trade and owned Mahone's Auto Service and ABC Towing for a total of 35 years until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the West Texas Street Rod Association. He was a member of Grace Christian Church in Odessa, TX. Bill was a proud Paw Paw to Kayleah (Law) Gregory and Brittani (Law) Weber and a proud great Paw Paw to Sutton Blair Gregory, Jude Barrett Weber, and Sawyer Jean Gregory.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Wanda Givens, Ava Edwards, and Peggy Ekdahl; and great-grandchild Weber.

Bill is survived by his wife Charlene; daughter Jana and husband Leroy Law of Strawn, TX; sister Judy Austin of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Kayleah and husband Caleb Gregory and great-granddaughters Sutton and Sawyer of Odessa, TX; granddaughter Brittani and husband Justin Weber and great-grandson Jude of Odessa, TX.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Sumruld, Caleb Gregory, Darren Farrill, Devin Talkmitt, Justin Weber, and Michael Talkmitt.

Memorials may be given to Grace Christian in Odessa, TX, or Scottish-Rite for Children in Dallas, TX.

Bill's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his best friend Bo and his wife Carol Pruden, friends Debbie May and Linda Farrill, and our church family at Grace Christian.
