George Maass Jr.

January 12, 1931 — February 4, 2008

George Morgan Maass, Jr., after a short illness left this world to join his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 4, 2008.

George was born January 12, 1931, in Bandera, Texas to George Morgan and Treva Blanche Maass. From 1951 to 1953 he served in the United States Air Force. He married Alta Marie Stodgehill on March 3, 1962 in Bandera, Texas.

George was a member of University Park Baptist Church. He worked as a surveyor in the Geo-Physical field for 32 years. During his career he worked in Saudi Arabia and the lower 48 states.

George was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. His father would take him hunting as early as 4 years old. His dad would tell everyone that he was his little hunting buddy. The nickname Buddy stuck and to this day most of his family and friends from Bandera refer to him as Buddy. He passed his love for the outdoors on to his son and grandchildren. Another great love was music, in his high school and Air Force days, he was quite the trumpet player. He later taught himself to play the fiddle and the mandolin.

George lived a full and wonderful life, but at the age of 71, he realized that life was not complete, and discovered that he needed to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. With that acceptance he was assured that he would be spending eternity in Heaven with God, proving that it is never too late to accept the Love of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Chet Duft from Missouri, and his step-daughter Shelia Harris, of Odessa.

He is survived by his loving wife Marie Maass of Odessa, his sister Helen Duft of Missouri, his son, Bro. Wayne Maass and wife Robbie of Odessa, his step-daughter, Sharon Berry of Florida, his loving grandchildren Melissa Barnard of Odessa, Lyndsey Maass of Odessa, David Maass of Odessa, Bill Berry, Ryan Berry, and Sharla Rogers of Florida and son-in-law John Harris of Odessa.

We will cherish the memories we have of you from your life on this earth, and though we wish you could have stayed longer we look forward to the day when we will all be reunited with you in Heaven. John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
