Gary Don Mason

Gary Don Mason, 67, of Odessa, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 16, 2025.

Gary was born on May 11, 1958, in Odessa, Texas to Charles and JoAnne Mason. He grew up in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in 1976. He began his career in the pump business at W.L. Somner in Corpus Christi and later transferred back to Odessa to work for Pump Energy where he devoted 34 years until his retirement in 2024. On March 23, 1985, he married the love of his life, Merryanne McCool. He was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Gary was an avid fisherman and was happiest when out on his boat. He also enjoyed golfing, and his greatest gift was the ability to create and build in his woodshop. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and JoAnne Mason. Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Merryanne Mason; son Brady Mason and wife, Lauren; daughter Brittany Mason; brother Mike Mason and wife, Julie; his grandchildren Hannah and Levi, who were his pride and joy, along with many extended family and friends.

The family of Gary wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks for Dr. Blum Murphy and her staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center, staff at West Texas Oncology, and the many nurses that cared for him from Hospice of Midland. Sincere thanks to the countless friends and church members who have supported our family.

Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing God is sovereign and that our ultimate hope in life and death is Christ and Christ alone.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 26th at Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nourishing the Nations at NourishingtheNations.org.
