Frederick Glass

Frederick Weldon Glass passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007. He was born on March 6, 1917 in Mound, Texas to Searcy and Estella Glass. Weldon married Dorothy Stagner on November 9, 1941. BRBRWeldon served in the U.S. Army Air Corp, and after the war the couple moved to West Texas. He worked as a mechanic for Exxon Production in Stanton, Midkiff, Denver City, Monahans, Sandhills, and the Crane gas plant until his retirement. BRBRAfter retirement, he and Dorothy enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed woodworking and hand crafted numerous pieces for his family and friends. Weldon enjoyed this talent that the Lord gave him and returned this love by building numerous furniture pieces that are presently used at Mission Dorado Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas where he was a charter member. BRBRWeldon is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy; one son, Dr. Bradford Glass and his wife, Lauretta of Midland, Texas; three grandchildren, Matthew Glass of Midland, Texas, Debby Glass of Lubbock, Texas, and Becky Glass of Abilene, Texas, along with extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John; a brother, Searcy Glass; and a sister, Katherine Brown. BRBRThe family would like to thank all the nursing staff on Hall 4 at Parks Methodist Retirement Center, nurses Sharon, Donna, Steve, and Tim, Hospice of Odessa and Nurse Kathy with Hospice who lovingly cared for Weldon these past years. We greatly appreciate the support and kindness you showed to our loved one. BRBRA visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas at 4142 Faudree Road. Pastor Bob Bratcher will be officiating, interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. BRBRIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Weldon Glass be made to the Mission Dorado Baptist Church or Hospice of Odessa.
