Frederick Davisson

Frederick Lanier Davisson, 82, of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his home in Odessa after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 14^th, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Byron McWilliams officiating. 

Fred was born on July 15, 1941, in Odessa to Charles Ethelbert Davisson and Gladys Frances Davisson. He married Glenda Smith on August 31, 1968, in Stamford, Texas. 

He worked at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth as a printer and later worked as a manager of a print shop in Odessa until taking the position of Maintenance Manager at First Baptist Church Odessa before retiring after 23 years there. 

An army veteran, Fred worked at a missile silo in Detroit before being sent to Berlin during the Berlin Wall Crisis as an armored tank crewman.

His joy was found in his faith and his family. He was a devoted Christian, husband, dad, and PaPa. He had many talents, could fix anything, and would lend a hand to anyone who asked.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Charles Jr.; and younger brother, Jim; and his beloved son, John Frederick. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; daughter, Lisa; grandchildren, Lexie and Jonah; and brother, Paul.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church or to Gideons International.

The family of Fred Davisson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Awasemo, Angels Care Hospice, nurse Tracy Dawson, Visiting Angels Carmen and Noah, staff at the VA clinic, and Dr. Rudy Haddad of Big Spring, and all who have showered us with love and care during these hard days.
