Sue was born in Shamrock, TX to William and Pauline Dominey on March 25, 1951. She attended school in several towns in Texas before settling with her parents and siblings in Odessa. She attended Odessa High School. Sue met the love of her life Oscar Maldonado, and they married on September 15, 1971, in El Paso, TX. Sue worked as a volunteer for ECISD in 1988 and later became employed by ECISD as a teacher for the special education department. She retired from ECISD in 2011 after 23 years of service.

Sue loved people and loved talking to anybody. She made friends easily due to her bubbly and friendly personality. She also loved babies, animals of all kinds, especially cats and birds. She enjoyed bird watching and even passed down her love of birds to her grandkids. She especially loved the hummingbird and would put feeders out for them every year. She also loved collecting coins. Sue was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making baby clothes and blankets for her grandkids and other people she held dear to her heart. Sue loved to play games, such as, cards and Yahtzee. When she and Oscar lived in El Paso, they became friends with a young couple who lived in the same apartment complex, Rudy and Gayle Ramirez. They all played cards together and Sue and Gayle came up with a system of hand gestures to help each other win against the guys. They were none the wiser and found out many years later what the girls were up to. They raised their children together and were like family. Sue and Oscar moved to Odessa and settled down. They had three sons and later adopted their first granddaughter.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Pauline Dominey, her husband Oscar Maldonado, and two grandchildren Amber Sue Maldonado and Ashton Paul Maldonado.

Sue is survived by her children, Billy Maldonado, Jamie and wife Nicole Maldonado, Paul and wife Nikki Maldonado and Brynn Maldonado, as well as, grandchildren, Logan Maldonado, Camron Maldonado, Aaron Maldonado, Landon Maldonado, Blayke Maldonado, Nathan Maldonado, Morgan Maldonado, and Bella Nino, along with many other extended family.

The family of Sue Maldonado wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ronald Gibbons, Dr. Daniel Copeland, Dr. Donald Garnsey and MCH ICU, as well as MCH 4th and 5th floor nurses, Doctors, and staff.

We take solace knowing Sue is no longer in pain and no longer suffering and that she is also with her loving husband once again.
