Frank Wayne Cox

Frank W. Cox, 86, of Odessa, TX, passed away at dawn on August 25, 2023, in Odessa, TX.

Frank was born in Purmela, TX, to Cary Lee and Bertha Acrea Cox on April 19, 1937. He graduated from Pecos High School in 1956. He worked in grocery stores in Odessa, TX, and married Helen Carroll Cox in August of 1959, in Gatesville, TX. Frank served in the United States Army Infantry in Korea, from September of 1960 until June of 1962, where he received his Sharpshooter badge in rifle. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army and joined the United States Army Reserve where he served until September of 1966. His daughter Deana was born in 1969. Frank married Faye Liebscher Cox in October of 1988, in Odessa, TX. They were married for 34 years at the time of his passing. Frank worked for the IRS for 30 years and retired in 1992. He and Faye shared 2 daughters and a son, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded by a son; both parents; 6 brothers; one granddaughter; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a niece.

Frank was well loved and will be so very missed. He was an intelligent, witty, loving man with a love of nature, animals, gardening, history, archeology, and his beloved wife Faye. He was well educated, having taught himself a great deal through reading, travel, and exploration. Frank was a master gardener, fisherman, cook, and human being. All who knew him were blessed by his presence in their life. He was not a great man but something better and more rare. He was a GOOD man.
