Ernest Rex Davis

Ernest Rex Davis, 86, of Gardendale, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Odessa.

Rex was born on November 14, 1938, in Kermit, Texas, to Ernest Hayes Davis and Velma Irene Crighton Davis. He graduated from Monahans High School in 1957. In 1958, he began his career in the oil industry with Independent Oil Company in Grandfalls, Texas. In 1965, he joined Amoco Production, where he worked with dedication and pride until his retirement in 1994.

On July 20, 1959, Rex married the love of his life, Donna Lee. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage, building a life centered around faith, hard work, and deep love for family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hayes Davis and Velma Irene Crighton Davis, and his brothers, Jack Davis and Robert Davis.

Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Davis; sons Steve Davis and wife Paula, and Shanon Davis and wife Cathy. He was a devoted grandfather to Tiffany Davis, Dustin Davis and wife Amber, and Shawn Davis and wife Megan. He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: US Navy E-5 Petty Officer Second Class Devan Davis, Shyanne Davis, Dylan Davis, Shiplee Davis, and Roczen Davis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A burial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22nd, at Sunset Memorial in Odessa.

Rex will be remembered for his quiet strength, strong work ethic, and the love and stability he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through the family he treasured and the example he set for all who knew him.
