Eric A. Briley

October 15, 1972 — March 6, 2024

Odessa

Eric Alden Briley, 51, left this earth to go to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Matt Hood and Jon-Lucas Poe officiating.

Eric was born in Odessa, Texas, on October 15, 1972, to Carl Briley and Phyllis Koehl.  Eric grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1991.   As a young man, he enjoyed playing football and baseball.  His love for sports carried over into his adulthood as he was a huge fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.  He began his work career as a car salesman and eventually worked in all types of oilfield sales.

In 2007, Eric met the love of his life, Stacy Chesnut.  When they met, Eric introduced himself to Stacy as Big E and said, “as you can see!”.  Eric had the nickname Big E because he was a big guy, but he also had a big personality and a big heart!  Between the two of them, they had four children.  Eric loved it most when all the family came over for his barbeque cooking.   He started the pit early to ensure he could enjoy spending quality time with everyone.  Eric never missed an opportunity to have a good time, whether it was with friends, watching sports, going to the beach, or having a cold Budweiser.   He never went anywhere without his beer koozie!  Eric was a tremendous music lover.  Cambree said that Eric would have them memorize all the cool song lyrics during their weekend stays together.  Many fun memories were made listening to various music and genres.

Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, Stacy Chesnut; daughters, Cambree Briley (and fiancé Jared Arras) and Kali Chesnut; sons, Coy Briley and Caleb Chesnut; father, Carl Briley and wife Melinda; mother, Phyllis Koehl; sisters, Wendy Glover and husband Lance, Jessica Briley, and April Fulwider and husband Randy; and brothers, Rocky Tindle and wife Heather, and Dusty Tindle and wife Andrea, and precious grandbaby, Hazelynn Jo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels in Odessa, Tx.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to H&J Petroleum Management & Consulting for their love, support and going above and beyond, and to everyone who participated in the Eric Briley Benefit.  They also want to thank everyone for the prayers, phone calls, texts, gifts and listening ears.   They are forever grateful and feel extremely loved by all.
