Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, but with great faith and gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Edgar Richard “Dick” Allison, who went home to be with Jesus on August 15, 2026, at the age of 92.

Dick was born on July 31, 1934, and raised in Odessa, Texas. He was the youngest of 18 siblings. He completed the eighth grade before leaving school to help care for his beloved momma, who was his heart and soul. Even at a young age, Dick understood the meaning of sacrifice, responsibility, and hard work. One of his proudest accomplishments was working hard enough to purchase his momma her first home—a beautiful example of the love and devotion that would define his entire life.

Dick married Mary Allison, and they shared 42 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons, Todd Allison and Wade Allison. Dick went on to build his own business, Allison Metals, creating a legacy of hard work, determination, and craftsmanship. One of his greatest blessings was having the opportunity to work side by side with both of his sons, teaching them through his example the value of an honest day’s work and taking pride in everything you do.

After the Lord called Mary home, Dick later experienced another tremendous loss with the passing of his son, Todd. Through life’s joys and heartaches, Dick’s faith, strength, and love for his family remained steadfast.

Later in life, God had one more beautiful love story written for Dick. At the American Legion, Barbara met her forever cowboy, and from that moment, a beautiful new chapter began. They found so much joy in simply being together, especially out on the dance floor, dancing the night away.

They were married on February 3, 2018, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, dancing, and countless precious memories. Their eight beautiful years together were truly a blessing and a reminder that some of God’s greatest gifts come when we least expect them.

Barbara wasn’t just his wife; she was his best friend, his companion, his dancing partner, and the love who stood faithfully by his side until the Lord called her forever cowboy home. 💙

Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to a truly special man. Dick was so much more than a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the heart of our family, our biggest supporter, and a beautiful example of love, strength, kindness, faith, and hard work. He was a gifted craftsman, a jack of all trades, and there seemed to be very little he couldn’t build, fix, or figure out.

Grandad loved his family deeply, and he made sure we always knew it. He was our biggest fan and cheerleader—always showing up, encouraging us, and loving us through every season of life. His family was one of his greatest joys, and the memories we shared with him will forever be among our most treasured.

One of our greatest blessings was watching Grandad love his great-grandchildren. He shared such a special bond with them, and the love, laughter, and memories they created together will be carried in their hearts forever. We only wish we could have had more time, but we are incredibly thankful for every moment God gave us with him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Allison; his son, Wade Allison and his wife, Diana Mancha, of Odessa; and a beautiful family whom he loved beyond measure.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Brittany Amburgey and her husband, Blaine, and their daughters, Brooklyn and Haven; Megan Brown and Luke Brown; Aubrey Allison; Grayson Brown; Carter Brown; Parker Brown; Brady Allison and his fiancée, Sophia Renteria, and their son, Branson Allison; Cody Allison; and Ashley Poston and her husband, Randy, and their children, Colten, Blayden, and Maddux.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Allison, and his son, Todd Allison.

Grandad leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years alone. His love, wisdom, hard work, faith, and devotion to his family will continue to live through each of us. He taught us the importance of loving one another, extending grace, working hard, taking care of family, and appreciating the precious time God gives us together.

Although our hearts hurt deeply, we find peace and comfort in knowing that Grandad is now in his forever home with Jesus. We know this goodbye is not forever. Until we meet again, we will carry his love, his lessons, and his memory with us in everything we do.

Grandad, words will never be enough to express how much we love you or how deeply you will be missed. Thank you for loving us so well, for always being our biggest fan, and for giving our family a lifetime of memories. Your legacy will live on through all of us. We love you forever.

Please join us in honoring Dick’s memory by lighting up the room in his favorite color, blue. We invite everyone to wear blue as we celebrate his beautiful life and the incredible legacy he leaves behind. 💙
