Dorothy Spann

Dorothy Olean Spann, 87 years young, of Odessa, TX passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, in Odessa.

Dorothy Spann was born February 21, 1935, in Big Spring, TX to George W. Blythe and Ella Jane Wilkerson. She married Keith Wayne Brooks on January 7, 1953, in Las Cruces, NM.

Dorothy was a housewife, mother, sister, and daughter. She enjoyed spending time working her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. She also enjoyed sewing for her family. In her later years she would tease her kids that she was going “papa Shopping”. She thought we needed a male figure in our lives. She loved to enjoy life and laugh a lot.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Keith Wayne Brooks; her dad, George W. Blythe; mother, Ella Jane Lewis; son, George Robert Heard; great granddaughter, Kimberlea Brooks; grandson, Keith Wayne Harris; great grandson, Dylan Brooks; her sister, Ettie Mae Gilbert; her brother, Jerry Dalton; daughters-in-law, Brenda Kaye Brooks, and Katherine “Bunny” Brooks.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Wayne Brooks, and Roger Brooks, both of Odessa, TX; daughter, Trisha Brooks-Dury of Midland, TX; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, as well as long time friends and extended family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
