Donna Hodge

October 4, 1957 — January 19, 2022

Odessa

On January 19, 2022, Donna Lynn Hodge joined her lord and savior in heaven after a long fight with cancer.

A loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend.  These attributes only describe a small part of the huge impact she made on all our lives. Her selflessness, dignity, and passion for serving others was one of her greatest qualities.

She is preceded in death by her beloved sister Vickie Kay Jordan. Knowing that right after her passing we feel strongly that she was reunited with her at the gates of Heaven.

Donna was born on October 4, 1957 and lived 64 years with us. Though she has left us all too soon, we are glad that she is not in pain anymore, and that we have so many memories with her to hold onto.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Gene Hodge; her parents, Don, and Doris Jordan; her children, Sandra Jordan, and Phillip Hodge; and her five grandchildren, Gwendolyn Menzies, Matthew Hodge, Alexandria Shahan, Jaquelyn Shahan, and Ashton Hodge.

Donna was born in Gorman, Texas. She lived in Rapid City, South Dakota, then to El Paso, TX, and finally settled into Odessa, TX by the 3rd grade. She graduated Permian High School in 1975. After high school she met Gene Hodge and they began dating. Many late nights were spent sitting on the swing of the front porch of her parents’ home. Not long after, the wedding was planned June 14, 1980. Together Donna and Gene have shared 41 beautiful years together.

Donna was a proud member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for many years. She found such joy becoming the church secretary with not only the daily activities of the church, but she enjoyed starting other programs such as: the baby pantry, coupons for military, and eyeglasses for those in need. She found great joy in helping the community of Odessa, spending hours working with the food pantry and wherever her time was needed most. Once the doors of St. Luke’s were closed, Donna and Gene moved their church membership to Asbury Methodist Church. And Donna decided to continue serving others by becoming a realtor and joined Copper Key Realty. Through this occupation, she was an assistant/office manager, where she continued to spread her good grace throughout the community.
