Cyndi Elaine Chandler

September 9, 1964 — December 8, 2023

Odessa

Cyndi Elaine Chandler, 59 years old of Odessa, Texas passed away December 8, 2023, at Midland Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children.

Cyndi was born on September 9, 1964, to Dick Johnson and Mary Lou Allen in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1972, the family moved to Odessa, Tx where she started planting her roots and creating a new path for herself.  Cyndi attended Odessa High School and graduated in 1982. During high school she crossed paths with a green-eyed, dark-haired boy driving a jacked-up Jimmy, Kevin Chandler.  Who knew that would be a moment that impacted her life forever. Despite being cross town rivals, Cyndi and Kevin hit it off.  Cyndi found the love of her life and asked Kevin to marry her. Cyndi and Kevin were married on August 23,1985. Throughout the years, they welcomed three children; a son and twin girls. Cyndi took her role as being a mom by storm and showered her children with adoration and love. She was their biggest cheerleader in life.  Cyndi would be at every school activity, sporting event, music concert and graduation. If you knew Cyndi, she would be sitting in the front row, decked out in pink/leopard print. Her yellow or pink Oakley’s firmly placed holding her hair out of her face, with a sweet tea or Starbuck’s coffee firmly placed in one hand while waving her opposite hand at the refs.  If you somehow missed seeing her, you would definitely be able to hear her cheering for her kids.  A special thing about Cyndi was she had so much love and support to give, she not only rooted for her kids but knew and celebrated each individual that was taking part in the event and cheering them on too. Cyndi created an open home where her kids, family and their friends would always be welcomed and felt at home.  The smell of her famous chicken spaghetti, enchiladas, or cappuccino machine brewing would greet you when you walked in along with her favorite 80s rock music blaring in the background. Cyndi made Odessa her home and planted her roots deep in the town.  Once you met Cyndi, she would never forget it and more than likely shout it out the next time she saw you out and about or at her favorite Mexican restaurant.  Cyndi made a huge effort in supporting locally owned restaurants and small shops.  There wasn’t a Friday night that you couldn't find the Chandler family at the local Dos Compadres. She was living up to her most cherished title, Glamma by making sure her grandson, granddaughter, and great nieces had the cutest one of a kind outfits. She was an active member for her high school reunion. She helped plan the 40th High School Reunion this year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dick Johnson and Mary Lou Allen; and her husband Kevin Chandler.

Cyndi Is survived by her son, Cole Chandler; granddaughter, Brynleigh; her daughter’s, Krysten Chandler, Kourtnye and Dylan Slaughter; her grandson, Witten Slaughter; her brother, Richard Johnson and his family; her mother-in-law, Mary Ann Chandler; sister-in-law, Kelli Copeland; her children, Brody Welch, Tiffani and Tanner Shanks; their children, Peyton, Jemma, and Blakely Shanks; and many other family members and friends.
