Clara Baucom-Manson

Clara Baucom Manson was born on June 23, 1938, in Liberty, Texas, to J.B. “Curly” Ward and Louise Capps Ward. She would later be blessed with bonus parents, Helen Ward Strawn and Bill Strawn.

Clara had three siblings: her twin brother, Bobby Joe Ward; a brother, Ben Strawn and his wife, Brandy; and a sister, Kay Abinante.

On January 7, 1956, in Crandall, Texas, Clara married the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Baucom. The couple moved to Odessa, Texas, in the summer of 1957. While raising a family, Clara was an avid athlete, coaching girls’ softball and participating in a variety of sports. With a love for Cadillacs, Coca-Cola, and motorcycles, Clara could often be found shopping with her “little buddy,” Debbie.

In 1970, alongside her husband, Clara purchased their first gas station, beginning 35 years of service to the residents of the Permian Basin.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Kenneth Wayne Baucom, in 2004, Clara later met and married Pete Manson. They remained married until his death in 2020.

Clara was a loved and valued member of Limitless Grace Worship Center. She loved Jesus, and she loved people.

Clara entered into the arms of Jesus at 9:00 a.m. on December 11, 2025, with her family gathered around her.

Clara was blessed with three children and three bonus daughters: Kenneth Michael Baucom and Pat Baucom Steven Carl Baucom and Kelley Baucom Tammy Denise Baucom and Hazel Stehlik

She is also survived by four grandchildren: Christopher Jack Turpin Sr. Nikki Bishop Ashley Meyers Brittany Baucom

And four great-grandchildren: Christopher Jack Turpin Jr. Christian Turpin Raven Amber Charlie Dozier

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Angel Care Hospice for their warmth and generosity, for never hesitating to go the extra mile. A special thank you is also extended to Jeffery Carlton, a close family friend who was incredible in helping care for Clara during her final days. The family is grateful to all who have helped in ways both big and small and supported them during this time.
