On August 14, 2026, C. L. Armstrong (aka Finnie) 87 of Odessa, Texas peacefully entered his eternal home, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship, and a life well lived. 

Finnie was born in their home at the family farm in Buena Vista Texas on January 14, 1939. He was a twin to brother Harrell; due to premature weight they were placed in a small shoe box on the oven door for warmth and wellbeing. Harrell subsequently passed at the age of 6 weeks. Finnie spent his early years in Buena Vista before moving to a farm in Imperial, where he completed high school, was active in FFA, graduated 12th in his class, developed a natural skill for animal husbandry through the necessities of farm life, and worked diligently to learn the trades of cotton ginning and the oil field. After high school he was off to Alpine, TX attending Sul Ross to finish with an Associates Degree. He married Kay Garvin in January 1960, 3 children were born to this union in 1961, 62, and 63. The family of 5 moved to Odessa in 1966 where C.L began working as a plant operator for El Paso Products. In 1971, 3 additional children were unselfishly invited into their home. He parented a family of 6 children working extra jobs to make ends meet and created a legacy of believers. He believed in working as if he were working for the Lord, Colossians 3:23-24. 

He is survived by his wife Kay Garvin Armstrong, Terrie Echols (Craig), Tana Perkins (Billy), Travis Armstrong (Lisa), Shirley Marble (Danny), Sandra Koenig (Bruce), Danny Armstrong (Marisol) with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren including one on the way! 

He was a fervent soldier for the Lord in actions and deeds, a cowboy who loved God with tenacity and grit. He was exceptional as a team roper! A loving husband for 66 years, a protective father to more than his own, and a devoted friend to all who knew and loved him. He was a steward of the Lord, a deacon and elder in the church and a constant companion to those in need. 

The family wishes to thank A PLEASANT LIVING LLC for the exceptional care provided by their employees: Alicia, Lupe, Blanca, and Christy. Due to their compassion, C.L. remained comfortably in his home.
