Charlie Hollis Grantham

Charlie Hollis Grantham, 102 years old, longtime Odessa resident, slipped away peacefully on April 23, 2024, with family present. Mr. Grantham was a longtime Odessa resident and business owner, that being Grantham Clock Clinic. Funeral services will be held May 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Belmont Baptist Church with Reverend McLemore presiding. Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6PM to 8PM, May 3, 2024.

Mr. Grantham was born July 23, 1921, at Childress, TX, to John Wesley Grantham and Edith Lillian Grantham. His home was in Tell, Texas where he lived and grew up as the 10^th of 11 children of an extended family. Always the businessman, Charlie opened a restaurant in Tell at the age of 12 and operated it for several years. After graduation from Tell High School, Charlie was drafted into the Army Air Corp. After WWII, he attended watch school in Illinois. Upon graduation he returned to Texas working for jewelry stores in Abilene, San Angelo, and Odessa as a diamond setter, watchmaker, hand engraver, instrument, and clock repairer. In 1960 he opened Grantham Clock Clinic. Charlie was a real renaissance man who could make anything, including many of his tools and his intelligence was boundless. He could fix anything mechanical, and to show his diversity he even raised parakeets, and sang in a Gospel group. Unfortunately, Charlie never married. He would have made a wonderful husband and father. He was deeply dedicated to Belmont Baptist Church, where he was both a Director and Deacon. He never said a harsh word about anyone, was scrupulously honest, and charitable to all. He will be greatly missed.

Charlie was proceeded in death by his parents and all siblings. He is survived by nieces and nephews, and great, great-great etc., nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him.

Pallbearers will be members of the church, family, and friends.

Memorials may be given to Belmont Baptist Church in Charlie Granthams name.
