Bruce Leroy Shearer, Sr.

Bruce Shearer, age 85, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Odessa, TX.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced with Pastor Becky Hand officiating.

Bruce was born in Shippensburg, PA to Chelmar Shearer and Ruth Warren Shearer. He was married to Sherry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963. He was involved in numerous organizations, including many years as a Trustee at Odessa College, member of Faith Fellowship Church, Master Gardner, water aerobics with the ladies at Mission Fitness, and played softball until he turned 60. He was an accountant, computer programmer, and consultant. He also was volunteer of the year in 2010.

Bruce is survived by his wife Sherry, son Bruce Jr. and wife Shelley, daughter Char Vanderweel and husband Ken, son Aaron Shearer, and daughter Laura Shearer; grandchildren, Shelby Waddell and husband Ross Vennes, Jake Waddell and wife Ashleigh, Tristan Shearer, Maddie Shearer as well as great grandchildren, Scarlette and Maya Waddell.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Hospital, Faith Fellowship Lutheran Church, or a charity of your choice. The family wish to extend our sincere thanks to Pastor Becky Hand, Gentiva Hospice and all the Doctors and nurses involved in his care.
