Bobby Glenn Butler

September 17, 1952 — December 6, 2025

Odessa, Texas

Bobby Butler, 73, passed away December 6, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Tx with Bro. Harry Irwin officiating. Viewing will be available Wednesday, December 17, 2025 and Thursday the 18th from 9-5pm. Graveside to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bobby was born in Midland, TX, September 17, 1952. He was raised in Goldsmith, TX in “the best spot in town” as he often described it, near the city pool, ballpark, and the elementary school. He came from a large family including his parents and eight siblings and felt much love and loyalty towards all of them.

Bob met Betty in Goldsmith, and he always said that after he first met her, he stated “I am going to marry that girl!”. And he did! They were wed during his senior year in high school and were married 54 years until his passing. They had two children, Rhett and Amy, and he was very proud of them both. He and Betty raised their children in Jal, NM and El Paso, TX.

After marrying, Bob was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Company. He worked in different locations during his employment and retired after 43 years with the company.

Bob enjoyed playing little league baseball and later coaching it and playing in softball leagues, cards and dominos, rafting trips, hunting, boating at the lake, any kind of get-together with family or friends, and really just enjoyed life in general. He never met a stranger, as all who knew him could attest. He could chat with almost anyone until “the cows came home”.

He was an active member of churches wherever he lived which included First Baptist Church in Jal, NM and currently with Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa, TX. He loved many people and spoke endearingly of them until his memory of them was stolen away by Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s started the last decade of Bob’s life and reared its ugly head, gradually robbing him of the memory of precious people and events from his life. Upon his passing, he was freed from his suffering earthly body and went on to be with his Savior and loved ones gone ahead. He is certainly rejoicing.

Bobby is proceeded in death by his parents; Claude and Ora Nell Butler, and siblings; Leonard, Weldon, Eddie, and Darrell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Rhett Butler and wife Steffi; daughter, Amy Baker and husband Bill; grandchildren, Brock, Henry, Alex and Gwyneth; siblings, Harold, Sharon, Jerry, and Carol; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Hope and Grace Hospice and Tiffin House Memory Care, both of Georgetown, TX. Both gave excellent care during his end of life.

Bob will continue to be missed by all of us who loved him. We are comforted by the promise that we have the opportunity to see him again in His Heavenly home.
