Billie Haston

February 6, 1933 — February 21, 2023

Billie Jean Love Haston was born February 06, 1933, in Foard County, Texas, to Earl and Helen Love.  She grew up in a farming family that was active in their church as well.  It was through this farming and church life that she met her husband, H. D.  She married him on March 30, 1959, and from that point on, she said that she led a blessed and great life.  She was a homemaker and mother to her three children Douglas, Joe and Barbara: keeping a happy home for us all.

Mama was a strong and comforting presence in the family.  Our dad always said he would not have been the man he was had he not married her.  While Barbara was in the last days with her battle with cancer, she was the rock that kept the family strong as we ministered to Barbara at the end.  She ministered to many of us in the family as we struggled through tough times. She was the embodiment of quiet strength.

As we entered the last days here on this side with her, some of her last lucid words, when asked how she was, were “I am just waiting on Jesus”.  While those of us that are left will miss her profoundly, we rejoice that she is in the presence of the Lord and reunited with her husband and daughter.

Mama entered the presence of the Lord on February 21, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her husband H. D. and her daughter, Barbara.

She is survived by her son Douglas, her son Joe and his wife Carla, her granddaughters Renée Flaherty and her husband Adam, Catie Meza and her husband Daniel, and grandson CodySam Davis and his wife Amanda.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Rush, Aurora, Josephine and Jocelyn, her sister-in-law, Gloria Love, and numerous nieces and nephews.
