Barbara Warren

April 12, 1949 — December 29, 2022

Odessa

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Barbara Layne (Hughes) Warren, 73, of Odessa, TX, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of Thursday, December 29, 2022, while surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Barbara was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Owen and Betty Hughes on April 12, 1949. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1967 where she was an officer in the Coeds Drill Team and a member of various clubs. She was a part of an elite choir group and a finalist in two beauty pageants.

She graduated from Bowling Green State University and received a degree in Business Administration and was part of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

On April 14th, 1978, she married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Terry Warren, in Dallas, TX. She had a passion for home decorating and keeping up with the latest fashion trends, but her most essential role was maintaining her household. She nurtured and cultivated a home full of love and this was seen in the way she prioritized the lives and well-being of her children and husband. She was devoted to the lifestyle she lived and enjoyed every minute of it.

Welcoming Barbara into Heaven with open arms are her parents and her nephew, Christopher Hughes.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Terry Warren; her children, Todd DeJulius and his wife Emily, Taylor Warren and his wife Marisa, Lindsay Christopher and her husband Ray; and her grandchildren, Everly, Tripp, Tyler, Bodie, Seth, Reina, Alexis, and Addison. Barbara was the oldest of four and leaves behind her siblings, Linda Ruckman, Jim Hughes, and Joy West, along with her beloved extended family.

In extension to her immediate and extended family, Barbara was loved by so many friends, including the lovely ladies of the Birthday Club and her close-knit ‘FRAMILY’ circle. She cherished her Friday nights at the club encircled by the best of friends and the trips to the lake house spent with her children and grandchildren. Her loved ones will be forever missing her beautiful smile, enchanting eyes, and infectious laugh… Barbara made a lasting impression on all those she touched, and she will never be forgotten.

The family of Barbara Warren wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Interim Hospice and Visiting Angels for their compassion and support.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Crossroads Church and Reverend Griffin Jones will be officiating. A reception will follow at the Odessa Country Club. Barbara will be buried at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, TX, at a later date in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to a charity of your choice.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25 ESV).
