Barbara Lee

A beloved wife, mother, sister, nana and friend, Joan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, TX, with Kit Love officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens funeral home.

She was born in Lamesa, TX, to Alfred Cook and Frances Howell Cook on June 1, 1946. She went to Ballinger High School where she graduated in 1964. Joan married Jerry Edward Lee on July 17, 1964, in Ballinger, TX. She worked in Human Resources for SITEL Corporation until she retired.

Joan was an avid bowler, Bunko player and crafter with her beloved best friend Jackie Marker.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Edward Lee; her parents, Alfred Cook and Frances Owens; her son-in-law, Robert York; and her nephew, Troy Cook.

Joan is survived by her children, Jay Lee (Misty) of Victoria, TX, Jon Lee (Dawn) of Granite Shoals, TX, Jera York of Victoria, TX; her brothers and sisters, Joyce Waterfill (Ron) of Taylorsville, KY, Milton Lee Owens of Ballinger, TX, Jim Cook (Deb) of Big Spring, TX, Anita Denny of Victoria, TX, Doug Cook (Cindy) of Kyle, TX, Travis Cook (LaDonna) of Austin, TX, Paul Cook (Nancy) of Odessa, TX, and Malinda Blocker (Kyle) of Stanton, TX. Joan had many grandchildren whom she was very proud of, Chase York (Heather) of Edgewood, NM, Kendal Lee of Katy, TX, Breanna Mercer (Adam) of Marble Falls, TX, Alexis Lee of Katy, TX, Bryson Lee of Granite Shoals, TX, Connor Lee of Calallen, TX and Braelyn Lee of Granite Shoals, TX; three great-granddaughters, Madelyn York, Harlyn York and Jolyn York, all of Edgewood, NM. Joan also had an extensive family of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins whom she never missed an opportunity to visit.
