Aurora Luna Alaniz

Aurora Luna Alaniz passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at her home in Odessa, Tx.

 She married the love of her life, Antonio Garza Alaniz, on November 18, 1963, in McCamey, Tx., where they lived for 40 years. Aurora’s life’s work passion was in home care, working for 13 years before retiring. She spent the rest of her time being an awesome cook and homemaker, caring for her husband, and being a formidable support for her beautiful daughter and her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and spending extremely fun and jovial times with her extended family in Odessa. Even when faced with challenging situations, she had a remarkable ability to find humor and bring joy through her jokes and laughter.

 Aurora is survived by her daughter, Marisol Alaniz Esparza and husband Abraham Esparza, of Odessa; siblings, Hector M. Luna, Refugio Luna Jr., Enrique Luna, Eliseo Luna, Criselda Guerrero, Norma Alvarado, Enoe Garcia. Leonor L.Castillo; three grandchildren, Nicholas Esparza, Marina Esparza, and Angelika Alvarado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Garza Alaniz; her parents, Refugio Luna and Leonor Saenz Luna; her three sisters, Remedios L. Montoya, Consuelo L. Gardea, and Socorro L. Juarez.

The family will receive family and friends for viewing at 6 PM to 8 PM, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Elizabeths Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Francis Omyekozuru officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
