Annye Joe McIntosh Sanders passed away August 18, 2021, at the age of 97.

Annye Joe was born July 16, 1924, in Baird, Texas to Joe Bailey and Effie Weathers McIntosh, the second of four children born into the family.  She grew up in Callahan County, Texas, with many aunts, uncles, and cousins around her.  She graduated from Putnam High School in 1941.

She married Durwood Sanders in 1946, and they had three children.  The family moved to Odessa, Texas around 1957, where Annye Joe worked at American Bank for 10 years.  In 1967 Annye Joe and Leslye moved to Irving, Texas, where she remained until 2011, when she moved back to Odessa.

In Irving, she had many wonderful friends over the years.  She was a long-time member of the 1st United Methodist Church, of Irving.  She loved going on trips with her friends from church.  She also enjoyed family reunions and spending time with her many cousins and always spending Christmas Eves with the Reeses.

She worked predominantly in the banking industry over the years and then worked at Mazon & Associates for 10 years.  When she moved to Odessa, she worked part-time for Marvin Properties for several years and eventually retired at the age of 94.

During the last ten years of her life, she lived in Odessa surrounded by family.  She made many wonderful friends during that time, and by many of them, became affectionately known as “Mama Joe”.

She is preceded in death by her son, Chris Sanders; her parents, Joe and Effie McIntosh; her sister, Jessie Garrison; and brothers, L.W. McIntosh and Jack McIntosh.

She is survived by her son, Joe Mac Sanders, and wife Katherine of Odessa; and her daughter, Leslye Reese, and husband David of Arlington.  She is also survived by her granddaughter, Aimee Sales, and husband Joel of Lubbock; grandsons, Mac Sanders of Odessa, David Bailey Reese and wife Dejanae of Arlington, and Chris Lacy Reese and wife Britney of Denton.  She also left great grandchildren, Jordi, Bryson, Aiden, Ava, Aarilyn, Aubrielle, Brayden, Bronson, and Brynn; nephews, T. McIntosh (Karla), Bob Clifton (Rhonda), Gary Clifton (Melissa), and Guy Clifton; and nieces, Cindy Fortner (Don Earl), Martha Payne, Lynna McClung, and Trisha Doggett.
