Alva Lynne Riggs died on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the age of 73 after enduring months of health challenges with strength and grace.
Alva Lynne Riggs, born on September 18, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma to Alva Anna Shirley and Dr. Hubert James Seale. Lynne graduated from McMurry University in 1974 to become an educator, and later went on to work as a nurse for Dr. Weldon F. Butler’s Office for over 20 years until she retired. Lynne was first married to her childhood sweetheart, Loel Layn Barry, with whom she shared her three beloved children. Later in life, she married Donald Ray Riggs, with whom she built many meaningful years until his passing.
She played an integral role as an Elder at Bethany Christian Church, actively contributing to its advancement and flourishing over the years. Her warm presence and unwavering commitment endeared her to countless individuals within the congregation, forging deep connections and earning widespread admiration and affection.
Lynne was preceded in death by her mother, Alva Anna Shirley; her father, Dr. Hubert James Seale; her brother, Hubert Arthur Seale; and her husband, Donald Ray Riggs.
Lynne is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynne Moore and her husband Jeremy; her daughter, Joanna Lee McPherson and her husband Mark; her son, Jonathan James Loel Barry and his wife, Claire; her grandchildren Kaytlyn Nicole Moore, Nathan Alexander Moore, Ashlyn Mackenzie Moore, Lacie Dean McPherson, Timothy Layn McPherson, Imogen Rose Barry, Adaline River Barry, and Eben James Loel Barry. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Seale and his wife Rhonda; her former husband, Loel Layn Barry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Alva Lynne Riggs extends heartfelt appreciation to all who have kept her in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. Your unwavering support and kindness have been a source of great comfort. Additionally, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to the healthcare professionals whose exceptional care and compassion provided solace during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Bethany Christian Church.
