Adan Rivera
Luna
Sep 10, 1949 — Sep 22, 2026
Odessa, Texas
Adan Luna went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2026, at the age of 77.
Adan was born on September 10, 1949, in Alpine, Texas and made his home in Odessa. At 23, he was baptized and gave his life to Christ. That faith was the center of everything he did for the rest of his life.
Adan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Sergeant and serving in communications, with his last duty assignment at the 96th Bombardment Wing, Strategic Air Command (SAC).
He worked his whole career at the Texas Department of Transportation – it was both his first job and his last. He stared out as a Title Examiner and worked his way up over the years, retiring as Director of Administration. He was a careful, organized man who took pride in doing things right and in taking care of what was his.
But more than anything, Adan loved his family and he loved his church. He was the kind of husband and father who was simply always there. And at the church, there wasn’t much he didn’t do. He served as a deacon and as treasurer. He led the singing and directed the choir. He taught Sunday school. He helped start a Hispanic mission with Second Baptist Church and the BGCT. For years, whenever his church was without a pastor, Adan stepped up and preached – a service he gave freely. He ran Vacation Bible Schools and Christmas programs, led all kinds of church events, and served as treasurer of the Hispanic Central Association.
He gave his time, his voice, and his heart to the church for the most of his life, and he did it quietly, without ever asking for credit. That was just who he was.
Adan will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Adan is survived by his wife, Ervinia Luna, and their three sons, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Aaron Luna.
Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Luna, Jeff Luna, Aaron Luna, Ruben Flores, Lanny James Urias, and Josh Gomes.
