Billie Jean Cole O’Shield, 89 years old, passed away peacefully to her Heavenly Father early Wednesday morning on September 14, 2022, in Odessa.
She was born in Bauxite, Arkansas on October 26, 1932, to Arlie Ray and Noma Lee Cole. She moved with her family at an early age to Talco, Texas where she went to school. There she met the love of her life, Lewis Edward O’Shield and they married on December 24, 1949. They were married until October 13, 1996, when he passed away. Billie and Lewis moved to Odessa, Texas in 1955 where they raised three daughters. Our parents’ lives largely revolved around our family, church, and many friends. Our parents instilled values of honesty, love, respect, and ethics in our lives.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Arlie, and Noma Cole; her brothers, Frank Adrian May, and James Robert Cole; her husband, Lewis Edward O’Shield; her daughter, Brenda Susan O’Shield Trottier.
Billie is survived by a sister, Patsy Ruth Carter and her daughter, Vicky Lynn McElwrath of Conway, Arkansas; daughters, Sharon O’Shield of Odessa, Starla and her husband Jimmy Allbright of Odessa and their children: Misty and husband Chris Jones, and Josh Allbright. Billie has five great-grandchildren: Dawson Jones, Dylan Jones, Lane Culver, Payson Allbright, and Kezler Allbright.
The family wishes to thank Home Hospice for their kind and gentle care of our mother during the past year and a half. A very special thank you to Reverend Jimmy Braswell, Amber, Robin, Melanie, Debbie, and Carolyn. Dr. Jimmy Braswell will be officiating the services for the family.
There will be a graveside service held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas at 3:00 PM, on Monday, September 19, 2022.
