Layten Eugene Smith, 23, a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend of Odessa, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27th in Lubbock.
Layten was born in Odessa to Randall and Tammy Smith on May 26th, 1995. Layten attended Permian High School in Odessa. Some of Layten’s favorite memories were growing up hunting and fishing with his father, grandfather, brother, uncles and cousins. Layten grew up playing a multitude of sports but especially favored baseball. Layten was baptized at Westway Church of Christ in Midland. Layten was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by so many. Our hearts are broken with the loss of Layten, but we celebrate the life of a wonderful and loving Christian man whose legacy will be left with all who knew him.
Layten is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Patricia McMillon, Iva Jo Smith, uncle Dyke Culp, and cousin Katlyn Culp.
Layten is survived by his sister Carlee Smith, brother Colten Smith, loving parents Randall and Tammy Smith, Grandfather, C.A. Smith and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday, December 30th at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, December 31st at Sunset Funeral Home with Kevin Fox of Westway Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

My heart is broken to hear this news. Our thoughts are with you, and our prayer is that the Lord will soothe you during this grievous time.
