Barry Don Tisdale, 85, of Midland, passed away on June 26, 2018 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa. His grandson, Jonathan Horton, of Grace Christian Fellowship, will be officiating.
Barry was born in Phillips, TX to Clyde and Nancy Tisdale on February 24, 1933. He grew up primarily in the Texas Panhandle before graduating from Odessa High School. He attended Odessa College and graduated with a business degree from the University of North Texas in Denton. Barry was a businessman who began his career in the oil field before owning and operating several restaurants and other small businesses over the years in Temple, TX and Cloudcroft, NM in addition to the Permian Basin. Work was his hobby and he was fortunate to be able to work his entire life. He was a member of the Jaycees, serving in several leadership roles.
Barry was preceded by his parents, Clyde and Nancy; his brother, Marion (Snook) Tisdale; and his youngest son, Dan Tisdale.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Ruth Tisdale; his children, Mike Tisdale (Sandy), Mark Tisdale (Betty), and Jana Horton (Don); his sister, Jane Smith; seven grandchildren (Julie Brandenburg, Alli Beversdorf, Sarah Semer, Jonathan Horton, Jahdiel Caudle, Jeremy Horton, and Jay Tisdale); 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jay Tisdale, Jeremy Horton, Brandon Beversdorf, Andrew Semer, Clinton Caudle, and Bryan Tripp.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Hospice Midland or the charity of your choice.
