Steve was first my student and then my friend for many years. He was a very talented writer. I greatly enjoyed sharing that passion with him; his passion for writing reignited my own, in fact, many years ago, and I thank you for that: Thank you, Steve. I also recall the joys of sharing long hikes with Steve. May he rest in peace. I wish his family the very best, and my heart goes out to them.

I enjoyed working with Steve he was a very honest straightforward hard-working man. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I enjoyed his stories and pictures of the hikes that he had been on. My prayers are with his family for comfort and healing at this time. I know that Steve is in a much better place now and we will see him again later.
