Ershel B. Dennis, age 75, of Odessa, went to meet friends, family, and the love of his life on December 31, 2017. He was devoted husband, a loving father and proud grandfather.

He was born on January 30, 1942 in Odessa, Texas to Carl and Carmie Dennis. He met the love of his life, Sharon Tyler, when he was 16, married her when he was 20, and lived the ultimate love story until her death in 2007. For the past 10 years, he has enjoyed his time with his children and grandchildren, but longed for the day when he could be re-united with his wife of 43 years.

Mr. Dennis was in the oil and gas business all of his life. He worked for Phillips Petroleum, later GPM, all of his life. He built and managed the plant at Caprock Yard until his retirement in 2005. He loved working. Even the night before his death he told his children he would work 24 hours a day 7 days a week if he could.

During his retirement, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren in Brownwood and Ruidoso and attending sporting events of his grandsons.

Mr. Dennis is survived by his son, Denis Dennis and wife Tatiana of Odessa, his daughter Candy Thompson and husband Randy of Odessa. One granddaughter Daria Sharon Dennis, and three grandsons, Tyler, Taylor and Tate Thompson. He is also survived by one brother, Jimmy Dennis and wife Billie and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Carl and Carmie Dennis, his brother James Earl Dennis and his wife Sharon Kay Dennis.

Mr. Dennis was a lifetime member of First Assembly of God Church in Odessa, TX.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 5, 2017 at First Assembly of God with the Reverends Paul Thompson, Todd Starnes, and Jimmy Dennis officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. To send family condolences please sign his guestbook at
